You've mentioned Mel, but this is the first time I've ever seen a decent set of pictures. You're so cute together!!! And she's just the most beautiful little purple thing there is!

Honestly, this is the first time I've seen pics of beluosus himself, outside of his icon.

I'd post more pictures, but I first need to learn how to keep the goofy expressions to a minimum when the camera is pointed at me. Actually, the picture in my icon looks really dorky at the original size. The lower resolution is rather more flattering.

She really is the cutest thing ever.

As for fabulousness, today we're taking a break from flat hunting to explore the bookshops around Charing Cross. There's one that has really old latin books, but I think they start at £100 and go up from there. Mel is excited about the Chinese bookstores; and fortunately, the Chinese promote literacy by making books really inexpensive. Maybe the Vatican should follow suit.

A pity Vatican doesn't care for Latin any longer. I once talked to their chief Latin translator - he's one of the most embittered man I've ever met - it is really tiring to be fighting a loosing battle all the time. So it's really up to us now - nosmet civitas Latina sumus - the more Latin books we buy the cheaper they should become although spending 100 per book won't let us get too far in this admirable direction.

If I could spare the £30, I'd have bought some Loeb classics the other day. Unfortunately, we realised we were spending far too much money since we got here, so I had to be good. But we did find a flat (another £300 spent just for the holding fee).

There is some hope with for the future though. The puer mentioned above is currently studying Latin in school, and Mel's cousin's daughter is going to begin this school year!

That's great! At least if he likes Latin he is taught. And congratulations with flat-finding.
By the way I know we all prefer reading books but don't you use Musaios as well? At least it's easier to carry about, just a PC cd with all classical Latin and classical and some byzantine Greek texts, also an effective deterrent against spending too much on books (as I found from personal experience).
If you don't have it but have a cd drive in your pc would you like a copy as a belated birthday cum anticipated house-warming present? I'll be in London with my Mum on the evening of September, 4 (Sunday) on our way to our friends in Scotland.

Actually, I've never heard of Musaios but it sounds really cool (I usually use thelatinlibrary.com or Perseus). My father-in-law got us a pc for our housewarming present, so it will probably work. That's a very sweet offer.

Sorry, didn't get your answer in time - was already on my way. But we'll think of something. Some of my friends are always going to London. I suspect you have a couple of really busy months in front of you, so best of luck and I'll write you as soon as I have another opportunity of passing Musaios to you (although it may turn to be a Xmas present I hope to manage earlier!) - you of all people should enjoy it!

That's OK; I've been pretty busy looking for work and getting settled. Thanks all the same, and it will definately make a nice chrismas present.
